In 2007, the U.S. Mint introduced the new Presidential Dollars series. This extensive collection celebrates each non-living U.S. President on a unique golden Dollar coin. The Presidential Dollars are issued in the order in which the Presidents served. Coins are issued at the rate of four per year. Each coin is limited to a minting period of only about three months before production starts on the next coin.  The obverse of each coin features the portrait of the President. The reverse shows the Statue of Liberty. Each original coin has been colorized to commemorate these great Presidents. The Colorized Presidential Dollars are not available from the U.S. Mint but only through special offers like this.Colorizing these dollars adds a new dimension to the coins and actually adds a vibrance to these historic designs.
