The left profile of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton balls in her hair is shown on the obverse side; a bald eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons is shown on the reverse side. The words "United States of America", "One Dollar," and "In God We Trust" surround the eagle.
The Morgan dollar is special as it is the first coin to feature Lady Liberty with an American look, rather than the traditional Greek style and her cap is adorned with wheat and cotton in honor of America's agricultural history.
The eagle has beautifully designed feathers. The olive branch he carries represents America's desire for peace, and the bundle of arrows signifies America's readiness to defend herself against attack.
